The Cancer Symposium 2025: Northern Chapter is a  event organized by the Institute of Advanced Medical and Dental Sciences (IPPT), Universiti Sains Malaysia, in collaboration with the USM Bertam Medical Centre (PPUSMB). This symposium brings together three major cancer research programs - Liver-ENRICH, Breast Cancer Translational Research, and Oral Cancer for a unified platform of academic exchange and clinical translation.

Held on 28 August 2025 at the scenic Bertam Resort, Penang, this in-person symposium is expected to gather over 100 participants, including clinical experts, academic researchers, postgraduate students, and industry stakeholders from across Malaysia and beyond.

With the theme “Synergy in Cancer Research: Advancing Innovation in Research, Diagnosis, and Therapy,” the symposium aims to promote integrated efforts in understanding, diagnosing, and treating cancer. The event will feature keynote and plenary lectures, oral and poster presentations, sponsor-led sessions, and networking opportunities, offering a well-rounded program that bridges basic science and clinical application.

In line with USM’s strategic goals, this initiative supports the advancement of translational cancer research and contributes to the national and institutional Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in research output, industry engagement, and student development. Selected abstracts will be considered for publication in a Special Issue of the Journal of Biomedical and Clinical Sciences (JBCS).

By creating a multidisciplinary platform for dialogue and collaboration, Cancer Symposium 2025 aspires to strengthen Malaysia’s role in the global fight against cancer through innovation, partnership, and knowledge dissemination.
