Advanced Medical and Dental Institute (IPPT) was first established on October 16,
2002 upon the Cabinet decision to establish IPPT at Bertam Kepala Batas, Penang
under the governance of Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM)

IPPT is a research institute focusing on three key components which are clinical
services,research activities and postgraduate academic programs. This institution
aims to produce competent, holistic and modern medical as well as dental specialist
equipped with state-of-the-art practices, who are also capable to lead new discoveries
for global benefit.

The Director Mission

IPPT Director, Prof. Dr.Syed Azhar Syed Sulaiman,
in his 2020 New Year address,outlined eight key strategic
areas to spearhead excellence in research, innovation,
entrepreneurship and international reputation.

IPPT Ranked 41st in the UI-GreenMetric World University Ranking

Institut Perubatan dan Pergigian Termaju (IPPT) is placed 41st, based on its campus sustainability
efforts and environmental management, as published in the latest UI-GreenMetric World University
Ranking. The rating initiative attracted participation from 360 universities spanning 62 countries.
This environmental sustainability rating comprised more than 40 indicators covering six major
areas; infrastructure (15%), energyand climate change (21%), waste (18%), water (10%),
transport (18%) and education (18%).

Community Engagement     

Putra’s Flood Aid Volunteers Mission
UPM mobilised its Flood Aid Volunteer Mission involving close to
1,000 students and staff in January 2015 to Kelantan and Pahang 
two states in the East Coast of Malaysia that were badly affected
by rampaging floods. The volunteers had to wade through knee
high muddy flood -waters. A Flood Operation Centre was set up
from 27 – 29 December 2014 and from 30 December 2014 -
15 January 2015 at UPM.
