WELCOMING MESSAGE

Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh and warm greetings.

Welcome to Pusat Kanser Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM).

On 22 January 2026, Pusat Kanser Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi marked a historic milestone when it was officially inaugurated by the Chancellor of Universiti Sains Malaysia, D.Y.M.M. Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Ibni Almarhum Tuanku Syed Putra Jamalullail, at Istana Arau, Perlis. Formerly known as the Institut Perubatan dan Pergigian Termaju (IPPT), the institution was renamed in honour of Allahyarham Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, Malaysia’s fifth Prime Minister, in recognition of his lasting contributions to the development of education and healthcare in the country. Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi also served as a Member of Parliament (MP) for the Kepala Batas constituency for seven consecutive term from 1978 to 2013, demonstrating his long-standing dedication to public service and the well-being of the community.

Pusat Kanser Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi stands as Malaysia’s first university teaching hospital dedicated to cancer care. It offers an extensive range of advanced treatment services including clinical oncology, radiotherapy, brachytherapy, nuclear medicine, transfusion medicine, specialised dental services, surgery, rehabilitation and palliative care. The facility is internationally recognised as an Educational Centre of Excellence by BrachyAcademy, a Netherlands-based organisation. It serves as a leading regional reference point for Hybrid Brachytherapy and Intensity-Modulated Radiotherapy (HyBIRT) technique for the treatment of tongue cancer without surgery.

Guided by its mission to deliver excellence with compassion, Pusat Kanser Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi remains committed to strengthening national capacity in cancer treatment, education and research, while serving as a trusted referral institution for the northern region of Peninsular Malaysia and beyond. We look forward to meaningful collaborations as we continue to advance cancer care for the benefit of the nation and the region.

Thank you.
