LEVERAGING USAINS FOR LAB TESTING, CONSULTANCY & TRAINING SUCCESSFULLY CONDUCTED AT USM

BERTAM, 7 April 2026 – The Research, Innovation and Networking Division of Pusat Kanser Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) successfully organised a knowledge-sharing session titled “Leveraging USAINS for Lab Testing, Consultancy & Training” at the Main Meeting Room, Level 3, Cancer Teaching Complex (CTC).

The half-day programme, attended by 25 participants, aimed to enhance awareness and engagement among staff on the effective utilisation of the USAINS platform for professional services, including laboratory testing, consultancy, commercialisation, contract research, and training opportunities. The initiative also supports the advancement of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4 – Quality Education through continuous professional development and knowledge sharing among institutional staff.

The session began with welcoming remarks by Professor Dr. Badrul Hisham Yahaya, Deputy Director (Research & Networking), who emphasised the importance of strengthening collaboration between academia and industry through strategic platforms such as USAINS, in line with SDG 17 – Partnership for the Goals.

Three speakers from USAINS delivered insightful presentations covering key areas of service offerings. Dr. Lim Sheh Hong highlighted laboratory testing and analysis services, contributing to enhanced research capacity and infrastructure aligned with SDG 9 – Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure. Meanwhile, Ms. Nathalie Yong elaborated on consultancy, contract research, and commercialisation, focusing on translating research into industry-relevant solutions. Mr. Lee Wei Sin shared perspectives on training, talent development, and Human Resource Development Fund (HRDF) opportunities to support professional upskilling
