PENANG, 4 August 2016 – Galaxy R3 from Advanced Medical and Dental Institute (AMDI) won second place in the Technical category in the Innovative and Creative Group Convention (KIK) 2016 which took place in Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) on 3rd-4th August 2016.

All three groups succeeded in getting a gold. Galaxy R3’s Medi-Bike Exerciser is a combination of exercises for the upper body, and lower body. It is also consumer-friendly, cheap and safe for use.

The leader of Galaxy R3, Muhammad Akasyah said, with this equipment, treatment time has been reduced while still maintaining the quality of treatment, more patients get to undergo treatment, and there’s a faster recovery rate.

“This simple structure can be adjusted to the height of the patient to give comfort to the patient and maintains an ergonomic posture,” explains Muhammad Akasyah.

USM also sent two teams to the Team Excellence Northern Region Convention organized by the Malaysian Productivity Corporation.

Creative Thinkers from Health Service Center and Fast from AMDI both received gold. The convention was held in Langkawi, Kedah.

Head of Creative Things, Puan Nor Baya Musa was grateful for the success and attributed it to the hard work of the members in her team.

"Creative Thinkers designed an app, My MediCord, which helps us save RM 232.40 annually as we don’t need to purchase blood pressure monitoring cards anymore.”

“We can also cut down on printing lab reports, saving us RM 25,164.00 annually, and we also won’t prescribe medication that patients are allergic to, saving us RM 118,080.00 annually. Overall, that saves us 88 minutes of treatment time per patient.”

Fast from AMDI designed a drip sensor that is capable of detecting when an intravenous infusion is complete and monitors the fluid quantity intake into the body. This system is also complete with a buzzer, which functions as a nurse call system. This innovation helps save RM 7,490.00 per unit.
