About Me

About Me

Nurdiana’s career in research began as a Research Officer at Lifestyle Science Cluster, AMDI, USM in 2009. She was awarded Academic Staff Training Scheme Fellowship from Universiti Sains Malaysia in 2012 and subsequently pursued her Masters (full research) at the same institution, focusing on using sensor-based assessment (tri-axial accelerometer) to quantify physical activity levels of the elderly. She completed her PhD at University of Nottingham Malaysia in 2021 with a research on obesity and musculoskeletal disorders in postmenopausal women.

Nurdiana’s current research interest is in ageing and musculoskeletal research particularly on the concurrent manifestation of low bone density and low muscle mass in obese individuals, (otherwise known as Osteosarcopenic Obesity). Her research on the syndrome include developing cutoffs for the identification of the syndrome, prevalence and mechanism of manifestation, nutritional and life style measures for prevention.
