About Me

Biostatment: Mei Lan Tan is Associate Professor at the Advanced Medical and Dental Institute, Universiti Sains Malaysia and a Senior Research Fellow of the Malaysian Institute of Pharmaceuticals and Nutraceuticals (IPharm), NIBM. Her main interest is drug-herb and drug-food interaction studies in various aspects such as the P450 cytochromes, membrane transporters (P-glycoprotein and organic transporters) and hERG potassium channel blockade. She hopes to provide extensive safety information and drug-herb-food interaction risks data on local food and herbal components to promote well-being and appropriate use of supplements and herbal medicine. Her other interests include studying the fundamental relationships between different types of cell death elicited by natural compounds, with much interest in Autophagy and ER-stress.
