Clinical Services

The Oral Health Clinic provides a state-of-the-art facility to support clinical research studies. It was established in 2006 in a humble shop lot in Bertam Indah. In 2009, the Oral Health Clinic offered specialist dental care in the area of prosthodontics, orthodontics and paediatric dentistry.

It is already having an impact on the oral health and general well-being of the community through its community engagements, clinical services and research activities. We are committed to expanding our translational and clinical research so as to extend the benefits of improved oral health to the community. Our collaborations with the Ministry of Health Malaysia Dental Centres and the Australian Cranio-Maxillafacial Foundation provide a unique opportunity for carrying out clinical research involving multi-disciplinary teams.

Community engagements

The cluster is actively involved in community-based activities in promoting oral health awareness among the public. We have participated in various community events together with the Dental Section of the institute since the last few years. Recently, we initiated an outreach oral health care programme to the disabled individuals at a community-based rehabilitation centre in Kepala Batas. We plan to visit this centre on a regular basis as an effort to improve the accessibility to dental health care among the under-served community and thus, ensuring equitable dental care in this group of population.

Among our future public health programmes include establishing a quit smoking clinic in this institute. The aims of this clinic is to reduce the number of smokers and increase the awareness of the harmful effects of smoking chiefly among AMDI staff and later, extended to the general public.
