‘DURI TUJUH’ TRIUMPHS IN HARI WARGA STAF 2017

KUBANG KERIAN, 20th August 2017 –‘Hari Warga Staf 2017’ of Universiti Sains Malaysia came to an end last night with ‘Duri Tujuh’ contingent from AMDI as the overall runner-up of HWS 2017. First and third places were won by ‘Misai Kucing’ contingent and ‘Jarum Mas’ contingent respectively, both contingents from Health Campus, Kubang Kerian.

The overall result was announced at the end of Cultural Night in which ‘Duri Tujuh’ contingent also won third place with theirtheater performance entitled ‘Raja Bersiung’.

As Overall Runner-Up of HWS 2017, ‘Duri Tujuh’ contingent brought home RM 750.00. They also brought home RM 500.00 for third place in Cultural Night.

This achievement was momentous for ‘Duri Tujuh’ contingent as it reflected the high team spirit among AMDI. Even though AMDI was the smallest contingent, it did not prevent them from competing in all the events.

AMDI Director, Dr. Norehan Mokhtar, who was also the leader of ‘Duri Tujuh’ contingent congratulated the AMDI contingent for their outstanding performance in HWS 2017.

“On behalf of AMDI, I would like to express my gratitude for being overall runner-up. I would also like to congratulate the contingent for their success. We have proven that although our number of participants is small, we can still excel in the event, “she said.

AMDI contingent, ‘Duri Tujuh’ shone in two events - Treasure Hunt (Explorace) and Tug of War. They successfully defeated their rival, ‘Jarum Mas’, contingent from Health Campus in the final round of Tug of War.

The AMDI Masterchef Team was also noteworthy as the team was crowned as runner-up for Masterchef Competition by serving ‘Nasi Kukus Pantai Timur’, Mek Kelate Spicy Fried Chicken, ‘Daging Kerutuk Cahaya Bulan’ and other side dishes.

This edition of ‘Hari Warga Staf Universiti Sains Malaysia’ was held in Health Campus, Kubang Kerian. This event which was held since year 1999, is one of the official activities to strengthen the bond and cooperation between the citizens of Health Campus, Main Campus, Engineering Campus and AMDI Bertam Campus.
