CMH LAHORE MEDICAL COLLEGE TO COLLABORATE WITH AMDI

BERTAM, 23 May 2017 – AMDI welcomed delegates from CMH Lahore Medical College, represented by the Principal, Professor Syed Afzal Ahmed and Professor Qasim Saeed, Dean of the Institute of Dentistry.

They were accompanied by two PhD students from Pakistan who are currently doing their PhD at the School of Dental Sciences, USM Health Campus.

The visit to AMDI was part of their working visit to USM to strengthen bilateral research and academic collaboration.

The guests were welcomed by Associate Prof Dr Bakiah Shaharuddin (Deputy Director for Academic and Student Affairs), Professor Narazah Mohd Yusoff (Deputy Director for Research and Networking), Associate Professor Dr Siti Noor Fazliah (Head of Biomaterials and Craniofacial Cluster), Dr Nor Azlina Mohd Khalil (Manager of Animal Research Facility), En Mohd Basir Selvam Abdullah (Manager of Central Research Laboratories) and En Mohd Faisal from IPPT Public Relations office.

During the visit the delegates were introduced to AMDI’s background emphasizing on research, academic and clinical functions. Later they were taken around AMDI facilities; radiotherapy and oncology clinic, dental section, specialists clinic, the executive health clinics, centralized research labs and the Animal Research Facility.

Our visitors were enlightened on AMDI’s potential to host international students to enroll into various academic programmes.

At the end of the visit, our visitors were impressed by state-of-the-art facilities for clinical and research at AMDI. A future direction in academic and research collaboration has been mapped today between the two institutes.
