SAMBUTAN HARI BUAH PINGGANG 3

BERTAM, March 27, 2017 – Each year, nearly 7 thousand new kidney patients are registered in the country and required to be on dialysis treatment according to statistical data. Approximately 50 thousand patients are expected to receive kidney treatment in the year 2020 and the number is reported to increase every year.

According to the Deputy Director of Clinical, Sustainability and Standards of IPPT, Dr Muhamad Yusri Musa, the issue demands critical attention from the society and should not be taken lightly.

“The rising number of kidney patients is intensely worrying and as IPPT community who are directly involved in the medical field, it is essential for us to disseminate information relating to kidney health care to the community,” he said.

“Likewise, parents play a pivotal role in educating children on the practices of good diet to avoid consuming nutritionally poor foods. Do not expose children to fast food or carbonated beverages since they can lead to obesity and heighten the risk of kidney damage."

“If parents themselves do not maintain a healthy diet, children will follow suit which consequently initiates risk of developing kidney diseases and obesity,” he added in his officiating speech in conjunction with World Kidney Day celebrated at IPPT level here today.
