8 IPPT STUDENTS RECEIVED ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE AWARD

BERTAM, March 24, 2017 – A total of 8 students, Institut Perubatan dan Pergigian Termaju (Advanced Medical and Dental Institute), Universiti Sains Malaysia were honored at the Academic Excellence Awards 2017 Ceremony held at the Animal Research Center (ARC) here today.

The annually held event aims to convey appreciation to students of IPPT who excelled in examinations for both Master’s and Doctorate degrees.

According to the Director of IPPT, Dr. Norehan Mokhtar in her speech, IPPT students are viewed to be highly potential and recognitions should be granted to those endeavored for academic excellence.

"With these recognition awards, it is hoped that it could inspire other students to persistently strive to compete and earn better accomplishments in the future,” she said.

“A student’s achievement is not solely based on his academic standard, it comprises various learning aspects, among them are teamwork, assisting each other in learning, as well as knowledge sharing among peers,” she added.

On the occasion, a of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) student under the supervision of Prof. Madya Dr. Badrul Hisham Yahaya, Norashikin Zakaria was accredited the overall Best Student award for year 2016.

A total of 7 Master of Science students received the Dean's Award. Among them were Ooi Pei Wan, Hemalata a/p Shuvas Bahadur, Goh Ying Hwa, Lim Wen Siew, Ong Si Min, Lee Hun Tey and Dr. Zuraini Abdullah.

Also in attendance at the ceremony were the Deputy Director of Academic and Student Affairs, Prof. Madya Dr. Bakiah Shaharuddin, the Advisor of IPPT Student Association, Dr. Doblin Sandai and the President of Student Association, Mowaffaq Adam Ahmed Adam.
