USM INNOVATION GROUP SELECTED TO THE FINALS FOR NATION INNOVATION AWARD 2016

KUALA LUMPUR, 19 October, 2016 - KIK team from Galaxy R-3 Group once again brought honor to USM when selected to the finals for Nation Innovation Award (AIN) 2016 organised by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI).

This award which aims to recognize outstanding minds in the field of research, development and commercialization (R, D & C) was given at a special ceremony, National Innovation Awards Night 2016 (AIN 2016), held in Hilton Kuala Lumpur on 19th October.

According to the leader of Galaxy R-3, Muhammad Akasyah Baharum, they felt very proud and grateful to be chosen to compete in the finals of AIN 2016.

"This achievement means a lot to our group and we are very grateful to USM, IPPT, and USM’s Quality Unit as well as those who constantly supported and assisted us throughout our journey ," he said.

"Through this opportunity, we hope that there will be high demand for our innovation from various groups for medical purposes," he added.

All finalists, including R-3 Galaxy Group will participate in an exhibition at NU Sentral Kuala Lumpur from 17th to 18th October 2016. Qualifying for the finals gives R-3 Galaxy a chance to receive a consolation prize of RM1,000.00 and a certificate of participation.

R-3 Galaxy Group previously won the Gold Award in the International Convention on Quality Control Circles 2016 (ICQCC 2016) was held at The Centara Grand in Central Plaza Ladprao, Bangkok, Thailand from 22nd to 26th August.

R-3 Galaxy Group produced a Medi-Bike Exerciser which is a combination of exercise equipment for the upper and lower limbs to carry out exercise activities simultaneously and the equipment is user-friendly, portable, affordable, and has been certified safe for use on patients and other users by SIRIM. This product also obtained copyright status from the Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia (MyIPO).
